Tom Brady is the greatest winner to ever step on this planet. Yeah, Brady haters, I said it. He played in his seventh super bowl this weekend which surpasses some bum lineman for the most super bowls by any player in NFL history. He’s the best quarterback in the NFL right now, and he’s the best quarterback to ever step on a football field. Tom is a god, a hero, he’s the first thing Boston sports fans want to talk about when they wake up and the last thing they think of when they go to bed. He’s just the best ever.
And last night, he proved it more than ever.
Still, we have to see the other aspect of things of course. If you couldn’t tell, I’m a HUGE Patriots fan and have been since I could understand what football was. I hear all of his haters and his critics saying the same thing over and over again. “Tom’s a cheater” “He’s a system quarterback” “Belichick made him, he’d be nothing without Bill”. The reason he’s the greatest is because he has so many critics. Every great athlete is hated by someone. People are jealous. Winning your division for over ten YEARS in a row becomes daunting on Patriot haters. How are they so good? Why? Tom Brady is why. They can hate TB12 as much as they want but he’s the best to ever do it.
Spygate. Yeah, here we go. First, of all, the Patriots assistants were accused of videotaping the Jets coaches from an “unauthorized location”. In the NFL, videotaping coaches is not illegal. But, the Patriots were accused and caught videotaping Jet’s coaches during a September game in New York. That’s the funniest part. They videotaped a 2007 September game in New York.
The game was completely and utterly irrelevant and had no meaning to it. The Patriots accepted a large fine and so did coach Bill Belichick. Tom Brady had no role in this one game videotape scandal. Jets coach Eric Mangini later said, “I didn’t think it was any kind of significant advantage, but I wasn’t going to give them the convenience of doing it in our stadium, and I wanted to shut it down.” Even the Jets coaching staff did not care about the taping, they just thought it shouldn’t be done, which turns this “scandal” into the second biggest joke in Patriot history.
Deflategate. The dumbest topic I have ever heard, even dumber than “spygate”. This is obviously a more recent topic in everyone’s minds, so there isn’t much needed to be said here. According to the NFL, it was “more probable than not” that Tom Brady participated in an event where two Patriot ball boys went into the locker room and deflated footballs to gain an unfair advantage. Absolute crap.
Going from the 199th overall pick to a record-breaking legend over the past 15 seasons, you can’t deny the saga that is the Brady Campaign. His incredible marches down the field, him facing immense scrutiny with the controversies, and with him finally staring Goodell dead in the eye as he took the Lombardi trophy: No one will have as great a story as Tom Brady. His journey in itself is an American legend.
To face uphill battle after uphill battle, and then finally succeed, is the American spirit personified. Brady has done this fittingly while wearing red, white, and blue. His legacy shouldn’t be hated, but a model for how with consistent grit and hard work, anyone can find success in their own way.
Now, Tom has secured his fifth ring and goes down as undoubtedly the greatest quarterback ever. However, even with his four rings before, and his multiple MVPs, Tom Brady already is the greatest ever. No matter how many times the NFL wants to punish him or disgrace him. Tom Brady is the GOAT.
Ring #5 just makes it so much sweeter.
