Blue Collar Boom Continues in the USA
Blue Collar workers are once again reaping the rewards of the construction boom throughout the country.
The U.S. construction industry added jobs for a third straight month in July, according to preliminary data from the Labor Department.
A total of 6,000 jobs, were added across the board bringing the industry’s total employment to a massive 6.899 million Americans.
However, July also snapped a five-month streak of falling unemployment within the industry. Construction’s unemployment rate rose from 4.5 percent to 4.9 percent.
As we detailed earlier this year, while the number of jobs may be rising, contractors throughout the USA are still struggling to find skilled blue collar workers.
The U.S. economy as a whole added 209,000 jobs in June while the country’s unemployment rate fell from 4.4 percent to 4.3 percent.
